While historically low mortgage interest rates and affordable prices are drawing buyers back into the Dallas Fort Worth housing market in 2012, the recession has changed what they are looking for in their next home.

A recent study by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) shows that consumers have become more cautious and practical. Builders surveyed expect homes to average 2,152 square feet in 2015, 10 percent smaller than the average size of single-family homes started in the first three quarters of 2010.

Real Estate Staging Association and Virginia Cook, Realtors Support Local Women's Shelters

The Dallas Chapter of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) has launched its first Metroplex wide spring charity drive “March Madness Spring Cleaning.” During the month of March – April 15th, RESA Dallas will join forces with Realtors throughout the Metroplex encouraging clients and community residents to donate unwanted new and gently used household items to The Genesis Women’s Shelter, serving greater Dallas, and The SafeHaven of Tarrant County.

“Home stagers and real estate agents work as a team toward the common goal of getting homes sold. It’s a natural fit for RESA Dallas to combine efforts with Realtors to give back to the community,” Karen Eubank, RESA Dallas President and owner of Eubank Staging, said. “March marks the beginning of the spring real estate market. Homeowners are preparing to sell, some are re-designing and everyone has that spring-cleaning fever! This is a perfect opportunity for our clients and the community at large to support two wonderful organizations.”

For 25 years, Genesis Women’s Shelter of Greater Dallas has provided victims of domestic violence safety, shelter, and strength through crisis intervention, as well as free and confidential counseling to over 25,000 women and children.

SafeHaven of Tarrant County (SHTC) is one of the largest shelters for women and children in Texas with facilities in Arlington and Fort Worth. SHTC’s mission is to end domestic violence through safety, support, prevention, social change, and to help women achieve independence and self-sufficiency.

“Home staging is a female dominated industry and supporting women is important to us,” Stefanie Levine, RESA Dallas Publicity Chair and President of Niptuck Home Staging & Re-Design of Mansfield, said. “This month it’s all about enhancing the lives and homes of women and children coming out of crisis situations.”

Virginia Cook, Realtors will be accepting donations from the real estate community and residents at our Fort Worth office:

2900 S. Hulen Suite 10
Fort Worth, TX 76109
817-665-1222

Tax donation slips will be available.

The women shelters are in need of the following items: women and children’s clothing, professional attire, toiletries, school supplies, children’s toys, books, and games, baby items, linens, and small household items. For a complete list of items please visit www.genesisshelter.org and www.safehaventc.org
