Sheila Rice

Born, reared and educated in Baltimore, Maryland, Sheila married H. Edwin Rice, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, in 1958. By 1969, she was living in Dallas and rearing three children under the age of 10. While she cherished her family, she yearned for a career. Her husband, of the generation reluctant for their wives to work, was less than enthusiastic about Sheila venturing into the ranks of the employed.

One Sunday, Sheila found an ad for real estate agents in the newspaper and convinced her husband that real estate offered a perfect opportunity. She spent an hour pacing the floors of their home summoning the nerve to initiate an interview. She finally picked up the phone and called Virginia E. Cook. Needless to say, Virginia hired Sheila…and the rest is history.

Sheila not only did well in real estate, she became the Top Lister and Top Producer of Henry S. Miller, Realtors' North Dallas office by 1971. She was appointed manager of the office in 1972 and proceeded to lead her agents to a top position within the company for the next 27 years. In 1999, she and Virginia Cook opened Virginia Cook, Realtors, which is now the second largest independent real estate company in North Texas.

Along the way, Sheila has contributed tremendously to her industry and to her community and has shaped the careers of many of the most successful sales associates in the local industry. She has earned a reputation for honor, integrity and dedication…and the enthusiastic, unwavering applause of her family.
