How Does Lauren Savareigo choose where to share precious time as a volunteer? It’s easy. She just follows her heart!
“My family is my greatest inspiration, so where I volunteer holds a special place in our lives, and in my heart,” says Lauren, who is based at our North Dallas office with her real estate partner, Julie Haymann.
The organizations benefitting from Lauren’s commitment to her family and to other families in the community include Temple Emanu-el, where she serves on the Board of Trustees, the Jewish Community Center Board, and Arthur Kramer Elementary School, where she is Vice President of Fund Raising.
“My sons, Jake and Cooper, went through the Early Childhood Education Center at Temple Emanu-el from the time they were two years old until they were in Pre-K,” Lauren explains. “Now they are at Kramer in the Two-Way Dual Language program, and it’s been an amazing experience. We are so happy with the level of education they are getting.”
And that’s equally wonderful for Kramer Elementary, as Lauren puts her sales and marketing savvy to work for the DISD school to raise funds for improvements and increase awareness of the school.
“Because Kramer is a public school, they don’t necessarily have the resources that other schools in our area may have,” she says. “Therefore, it is important to me to get involved. You can’t just complain about our public school system if you aren’t willing to do anything about it.”
Lauren is currently spearheading efforts to raise funds for a new blacktop. “It’s a $65,000 endeavor that will take us two to three years to achieve, but the level of involvement from our parents has been amazing,” she says. “Not everyone can give monetarily, but everyone tries to donate their time. It makes me proud to be a part of such a great community.”
While it may take a few years to fund the new blacktop, the hard work of Lauren and other Kramer parents is already paying off.
“I’m happy to say that we are getting so many more neighborhood kids enrolled at Kramer,” she says. “The word is out that there is a fantastic elementary school right here in our backyard. We are thrilled with the growing number of people who are attending our tours and learning more about what we have to offer!”
